Meet The Band
PETER BRYCESON-Vocals/ Acoustic Guitar
Peter taught himself to play guitar at age 16. He soon realised he had a reasonable voice so sought professional tuition to hone his talent. Over the past 25 years he has performed extensively singing covers in pubs, clubs and corporate functions either as part of a duo or as a solo artist. He has embraced Rock and Roll music and is enjoying being out the front of the band.
JOHN LAWSON—Bass Guitar/Vocals
The band’s founder member who has nearly 40 years’ experience as a bassist. He has played in several successful bands and worked with artists such as Doug Parkinson, Max Merritt, Ronnie Burns and Denise Drysdale. John has performed at pubs, clubs, reception houses, corporate events and outdoor music festivals all over Australia and been a member of acts that have won TV talent quests.
NEIL COOPER-Keyboards/ Vocals
Neil has worked in the music industry for nearly 40 years playing mainly covers in various bands. He is an experienced and talented keyboard player and contributes lead and backing vocals. He has worked with artists such as Ricky May, Ol 55, The Drifters and Marcia Hines. Neil has a passion for Rock & Roll so he’s now living his dream.
ALASTAIR SLOAN -Saxophone/Vocals
A talented multi -instrumentalist, Al has played professionally for over 30 years in the UK where he performed extensively as a member of soul-funk bands and the UK’s number one Ska tribute band “2 Rude”. He has toured extensively in the UK and worked as a session musician playing jazz, funk, soul, blues and rock. This is Al’s first gig as a Rock and Roll brass soloist and he is loving it.
Shane Dorrington-Drums
With a career spanning almost 5 decades on the Melbourne music scene, Shane has been fortunate enough to work with many top local & international acts such as Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley and The Drifters. While playing with the All Stars he also shared billing with various legendary Aussie bands such including ACDC & Air Supply and played drums on the soundtrack of the original Mad Max movie. Shane has toured extensively in Australia with many bands including Kush and Hush and spent many hours in recording studios as a session drummer for several well known artists.
Terri McPhail-Saxophone/ Vocals
Terri is a multi-instrumentalist and woodwind teacher, whose main instrument is the tenor saxophone. She completed an Advance Diploma of Music in 1999 at Box Hill Institute and has been teaching woodwind instruments (saxophones, clarinet, and flute), amongst other instruments ever since. Terri has played in bands ranging in music from covers, originals, soul, jazz, blues, and funk. After taking some time off from performing to focus on teaching and raising her young family, Terri has recently returned to doing what she loves the most, which is performing to a live audience.
JIM MERAKIS-Lead Guitar/ Vocals
Usually plays guitar but mostly plays the fool! Inspired by early artists like Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and Muddy Waters. Jim (aka Meataxe) borrowed his first guitar while still a young lad at High School and thus began a life long passion with early Rock 'n' Roll & Blues Music. After many hours busking in Melbourne’s laneways and jumping from one garage band to another, he soon progressed to lead guitar roles and quickly honed his skills in a wide variety of successful bands covering country, blues and rock genres . He has toured extensively in the past and is now still playing early Rock 'n' Roll and roots music which always been his passion.
